Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas is seeking a Special Procedures Tech in the Cath Lab for a part-time role. The technician will take radiologic films for specialized procedures and assist the physician during invasive radiologic procedures.

Required education includes graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, current Texas MRT license or temporary license, ARRT-R registration, and Basic/Advanced Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures; prepares patients for exam, explains procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects imaging techniques, and ensures image quality.
• Enters and monitors patient data.
• Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment; may assist with initial and renewal applications for accreditation.
• Identifies and reports accidents, complaints or equipment malfunctions to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
• Promotes professional growth and serves as preceptor/mentor to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate and personalized experiences for every patient and colleague.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accreditedschool of Radiologic Technology.

Licenses/Certifications

• Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
• Current license or temporary licenseby the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required.
• Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

• Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions.

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: prepares patients for exam, explains procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.
• Enters and monitors patient data.
• Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment. May assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
• Identifies and reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
