Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Radiologic Technician for the CVOR Endovascular Lab. You will take radiologic films for complex procedures and assist physicians during invasive radiologic interventions.

Required are graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT-R registration, and Texas MRT licensure, plus BLS/ALS certification. You will contribute to patient safety and image quality while supporting department goals.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• BLS or ALS certification required.
• Texas Medical Board MRT license (current or temporary).
• ARRT-R registration certificate.
• Ability to lift and maneuver patients when performing duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures according to safety rules and quality standards; prepares patients, explains procedures, administers contrast, positions patients, selects imaging techniques and ensures image quality.
• Enters and monitors patient data during procedures.
• Perform quality assurance on radiology equipment; may assist with accreditation applications (ACR and others).
• Identifies and reports accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
• Takes emergency calls within the department.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors following policies and budgets.
• Promotes professional growth by meeting mandatory education requirements and supporting department goals; acts as a preceptor and resource.
• Models Memorial Hermann service standards by delivering safe, caring, and efficient experiences.

Job Description

Takes radiologic films of the body requiring specialized or complicated procedures to assist in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Acts as an assistant to the physician during invasive radiological procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support
• Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required
• Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs special/invasive radiology procedures on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: Prepares patients for exam, explains procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.
• Enters and monitors patient data.
• Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment. May assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
• Identifies and reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to department management.
• Takes emergency call within the department.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
