NYC Public Schools in New York, NY seeks a Special Officer to provide physical security, safety, loss prevention, and order in NYCPS administrative buildings, collaborating with OSYD and city/state agencies.
Responsibilities include building patrols, daily reports, coordinating with safety directors, ensuring proper visitor procedures, and maintaining equipment; shifts may include evenings and weekends.
Reporting to the Supervising Safety Officer, the Special Officer performs duties to provide physical security, safety, loss prevention, and maintenance of order, in accordance with policies and procedures throughout the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). The Special Officer is primarily assigned to provide security in NYCPS Administrative office buildings. This includes working collaboratively with intergovernmental agencies and other divisions within the NYCPS. Performs related work.

Works closely with staff within the Office of Safety and Youth Development (OSYD), various City and State agencies, including the New York City Police Department (NYPD) as well as families and students.
A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York is required for appointment to positions in certain agencies. If required, this license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
