Job summary

LEAD Public Schools is hiring a Middle School Exceptional Education Assistant to support classroom instruction for students with disabilities under a licensed teacher. You will prepare instructional materials, implement IEP accommodations, and assist with health care needs while engaging with families and staff.

The role emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and dependable communication to advance student outcomes within the LEAD mission.

Qualifications

Hold an associate’s degree or higher; OR two years of college coursework totaling 48 hours at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Pass the Education Testing Service (ETS) Para-Pro Assessment.
Preferred: job-related experience.
Ability to build trust and drive change by forming good relationships with staff and students.
Adaptable; self-starter who sets high goals and can handle multiple projects.
Belief in LEAD’s mission of preparing students for college and for life.

Responsibilities

Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities under the direct supervision of a fully certified teacher.
Prepare materials for various levels of instruction and across content in collaboration with the teacher.
Implement accommodations and/or modifications per student IEP.
Provide support with health care needs as required.
Communicate with staff, students, and parents/guardians including IEP meetings and conferences.
Maintain rapport with students and adults including teachers and guardians.
Attend meetings and professional development to improve skills.
