Job summary

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following: Education rules regarding GL-5 and the possibility to credit graduate education; at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level, including investigation support, techniques, evidence control, and use of monitoring equipment and drug test kits.

Qualifications

• Education is not creditable above GL-5 for most positions.
• Graduate education may be credited when directly related to the work of the position.
• You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
• Experience that equips you to perform the duties of the position.
• Experience in investigations or investigative research is a qualifying factor.
• Knowledge of investigative techniques, control of evidence and crime scene preservation is required.
• Experience with telephone monitoring equipment, drug test kits, and media recording devices is relevant.

Education:

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GL-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

OR Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

• Experience which demonstrated the ability assisting in conducting investigations or investigative research.
• Experience which demonstrated knowledge of investigative techniques, control of evidence and crime scene preservation.
• Experience which demonstrated knowledge and use of current telephone monitoring equipment, drug test kits, and all available media recording and playing devises.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
