Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a qualified Special Inspector to perform inspection duties on a large scale project near Indianapolis, IN. This role involves on-site testing of construction materials, reporting findings, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have multiple ICC certifications, at least 2 years of field experience, and a strong focus on quality, safety, and documentation. Opportunity to grow within a leading engineering firm.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in construction industry as a technician or inspector.
• Radiation Safety training for operation of nuclear density gauge with soil density testing.
• ICC Soils Special Inspector or NICET II – Construction Materials Testing Soils.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations and materials sampling/testing for buildings, bridges, and roadways.
• Conduct testing on soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, decking, and paving.
• Write daily field reports documenting contractor work and compliance with contract documents.
• Cast field samples for strength verification.
• Communicate daily project progress to the Department Manager.
• Transport samples and equipment to site and laboratory locations.
