Job summary

Tedk12 is seeking a paraprofessional to support students with special needs in meeting educational goals aligned with IEPs. This role involves working with children individually or in small groups, using a variety of teaching strategies and assistive tools.

Strong communication, teamwork and reliability are essential. Educational requirements include a Bachelor’s in Education (or Associate degree) with experience in educational settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Education or Associate degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior service work or training in the educational setting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with staff and students.

Job Description

A paraprofessional person who works with children, individually or in small groups, in meeting the educational needs as stated in the Individual Education Program developed in accordance with state and federal statutes regarding the education of children in need of special or prolonged assistance.

Educational level: Bachelor Degree in Education from four-year college, or Associate Degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience in working with children and or teaching experience.

Experience Desired: Prior service work or training in the educational setting.

Physical Requirements: This position requires eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, talk, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Other Requirements: Demonstrated interest and commitment toward the welfare of young people. Positive human relations and communication skills toward both adults and children. Ability to relate to, and work as a contributing member of, a team. Ability in using a wide range of teaching strategies. Ability to communicate effectively. Skills in word processing, operating office machines and audio-visual equipment are helpful.
