Job summary

St. Charles Parish School Board is hiring a licensed Special Education teacher to plan and implement an instructional program for diverse learners. The role emphasizes rigorous, outcome-focused instruction, supportive student relationships, and data-driven planning.

The educator will develop IEPs and behavior plans, collaborate with the school team, and engage students in authentic, real-world learning experiences throughout the 183-day, 7.5-hour school schedule.

Qualifications

• Louisiana certified; Type A, B or C in Special Education, or Level 1–3 in related fields.
• Experience writing and implementing IEPs and Behavior Plans.
• Knowledge of instructional methodologies for students with disabilities (Bulletins 1706/1508).

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and implement an instructional program guiding students to reach academic potential.
• Establish supportive relationships with students and engage in meaningful, real-world discussions and activities.

Job description

Work Duration: 183 Days 7.5 Hours/Day

Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, including but not limited to:

• Setting rigorous yet appropriate learning outcomes
• Establish supportive relationships with students
• Engage students in meaningful, developmentally appropriate, real‑world discussions and learning activities
• Develop authentic and aligned assessments to measure student growth and inform instructional decisions, especially pertaining to students with special needs or exceptionalities
• Develop plans (IEPs, behavior intervention plans, service plans etc.) that are data‑based and support the growth and development of students
• Collaboratively work with team to fulfill the mission, vision and beliefs of both the schools and the district

Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Louisiana certified; type `A,' `B' OR `C' - OR- LEVEL 1, 2 OR 3 in Special Education, Academically Gifted, or the Talented Arts--Visual, Theatre, Music
• Knowledge of instructional methodologies of students with disabilities and/or exceptionalities and Bulletins 1706/1508
• Experience in writing and implementing IEPs and Behavior Plans
