Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Special Education Teacher- Visual Impairment to join our team in a supportive school environment. The role focuses on developing IEPs, collaborating with families and staff, and delivering tailored instruction for students with visual impairments.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree with AZ Special Education certification and an AZ teaching license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Special Education Certificate per AZ requirements.
• Arizona Teaching Licensure.
• Specific certifications as applicable (e.g., Early Childhood Education Certificate).
• Experience with IEP writing and meetings.
• Experience with K-12 children.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student.
• Communicate with staff and families about progress and challenges.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and seek administrator approval.
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled.
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques to support progress.
• Invite family members to participate in education progress.
• Create and distribute quarterly progress reports.
• Coordinate with on-site therapist on disciplinary and behavioral issues.
• Maintain a safe, productive classroom environment.

Special Education Teacher Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
• Shall possess a Special Education Certificate (according to AZ Department of Education requirements)
• Shall possess an Arizona Teaching Licensure
• Shall have specific certification where applicable - examples: Early Childhood Education Certificate, CC for Cross Category Specialists
• Shall have experience with IEP writing, meetings etc
• Experience working with K-12 children

Special Education Teacher Responsibilities:

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each of the students in your care
• Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school
