Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, GA seeks a Special Education Teacher (Interrelated) to provide instruction for students with disabilities and support learning to increase achievement. The role requires creating and modifying lessons, developing IEPs, and collaborating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid Georgia Teacher Certification for area of specialization required.
• 0-1 year classroom experience required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and due process requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsabilités

• Provides instruction for students with disabilities that supports learning and results in decreased behavior and increased student achievement
• Develops or selects and modifies lessons and materials to meet individual student needs
• Utilizes special methodologies for instruction to support student progress using GPS standards
• Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the IEP for each student on the caseload
• Addresses the unique needs of students on caseload, e.g., lifting, positioning, signing for deaf/hard of hearing students
• Administers evaluations of student progress and maintains records
• Follows due process procedures for referred and eligible students with disabilities
• Meets expectations according to the general education teacher job description
• Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program
• Facilitates home-school communication through conferences, calls, and written communications
• Uses technology to support instruction
• Serves as a resource to general education faculty, administrators, and related services personnel
• Performs other duties as assigned by administrator
