The Wilmington Middle School is seeking a dynamic Special Educator to join our community as a teacher in our Special Education department. It is imperative that the candidate demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the middle school team philosophy as well as the middle school child. This position has a designated caseload of students on IEP’s and the candidate will service students with a variety of needs/abilities that can include but not limited to specific and intense remediation due to significant language-based disabilities. The teacher will also be responsible for inclusion support, supporting students in an educational learning center that are focused on individual student’s special education goals, evaluating students for eligibility/re-eligibility for special education services, generating reports/reporting out on evaluations and chairing/participating in meetings. The special education teacher will be providing direct instruction as well as being a liaison to classes that their students are attending and share responsibility for planning/co-planning of direct instruction for their students.
