Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) certified in NY to work in a school setting. This full-time contract role supports students with special needs and follows a 7:30am–4:30pm schedule.

The position emphasizes collaboration with families and staff, development of IEPs, and data-driven instruction aligned to Common Core standards. A Master’s degree is preferred, and NY certification is required.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates and provides instruction for small groups and individuals.
• Collaborates with necessary personnel to identify and support students who are considered at‑risk.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to design and execute individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Utilizes developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula aligned to benchmarks and the Common Core State standards.
• Presents students with new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies and guides them to explore and express themselves.
• Modifies instructional plans to accommodate individual needs.
• Administers and analyzes data from assessments.
• Communicates progress to families and supports their involvement.
• Participates in school-wide assessments to diagnose student needs.
• Provides resources and supports for teachers to implement interventions.
• Refers students for special services when needed.
• Participates in meetings to develop and review IEPs and supports.
• Keeps organized records and reports on student progress.
• Advocates for students and knowledge of Special Education law.

Job Description

Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.

• This is a contract position.
• 7:30am-4:30pm schedule.
• This role assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission and critical goals of the organization into their job performance.

Duties and Responsibilities Include

• Collaborates and provides instruction for small groups and individuals.
• Collaborates with necessary personnel to identify and support students who are considered “at-risk.”
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to design and execute individualized education plans for students with special needs.
• Utilizes developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials that are tightly aligned to benchmarks and the Common Core State standards.
• Presents students with new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies, and inspires and guides them to explore, express, and uncover new ideas of their own.
• Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual student’s special needs.
• Administers collects and analyzes both qualitative and quantitative data gathered from a variety of assessments.
• Builds relationships with his or her students’ families through regular communication about at-risk/ IEP students’ progress and provides ways in which families can support their children’s learning.
• Participates in school-wide student assessments in order to diagnose students’ needs.
• Provides resources and supports for classroom teachers to implement intervention strategies.
• Refers students when necessary for special services.
• Participates in meetings to develop and review Individual Education Plans and suggest appropriate supports.
• Keeps organized records of student progress and provides up-to-date reports.
• Knowledgeable about Special Education law and advocates for students.

Requirements include

• New York State Special Education Teacher Certification required.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Candidates who do not meet the above requirements will not be considered
