Job summary

Behavioral Health Associates seeks a Special Education Teacher for our PRIDE Program in Pottsville, PA. You will identify student needs and foster a supportive, engaging learning environment while implementing IEPs and collaborating with families and staff.

You will teach small groups and individuals, prepare lessons, assess progress, and coordinate with administration to tailor learning plans. Bachelor’s degree and SPED cert required; ASD experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and teaching certification in Special Education (K-12).
• Experience with students with ASD is beneficial, but not required.
• Strong communication and ability to work with diverse learners.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and accommodation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a small group of students and individuals inside and outside of the classroom.
• Preparing and executing lessons to complete learning objectives.
• Assessing the students’ work done in class.
• Developing, adapting, and implementing education plans (IEPs) and teaching methods that are suitable for each student.
• Using special tools and equipment provided to stimulate an engaging learning environment and support students’ emotional needs.
• Coordinating with administration to create individualized learning plans for the student.
• Tracking the academic/behavioral goal performance of students for signs of progress.
• Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention.
• Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior in the classroom.
• Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet interests and learning styles.
• Maintaining working relationships with Instructional Assistants in classroom to complete daily behavior sheets and provide daily communication to parents.
