Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities and improve achievement. You will develop and adapt lessons, implement methods aligned with GPS standards, and manage IEPs for a caseload.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid Georgia Teacher Certification for area of specialization required.
• 0–1 year classroom experience required.
• Proven communication and instructional strategies.

• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops or selects and modifies lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Implements instruction using GPS standards and special methodologies.
• Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the IEP for each student on caseload.
• Addresses needs of students with disabilities, including positioning and signing needs.
• Administers evaluations of student progress and maintains records.
• Follows due process procedures for referred and eligible students.
• Collaborates with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program.
• Facilitates home-school communication via conferences, calls, and written communications.
• Uses technology to support instruction and serves as a resource to general education staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Utilizes special methodology for instruction to support student progress using GPS standards

• Addresses the unique needs students in caseload, i.e., lifting and positioning moderately intellectually disabled, orthopedically impaired, severely and profoundly disabled students or signing for deaf/hard of hearing students
