Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide services to MID/EBD/LD/BD special education students so that educational progress can be monitored and enhanced, and so that programming can be established.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in IEP conferences including behavior management plans, functional analysis of behavior, placement, and annual reviews.
• Develop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and utilize a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of the students.
• Provide appropriate diagnostic testing, identify student capabilities, and monitor student progress on a regular basis.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, CCPS, and GaDOE policies.
• Communicate with parents on an individual or small group basis.
• Consult with appropriate professional staff regarding a student's educational program.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
• Special Education General Curriculum & all five content areas (currently GACE tests 081/082 + 087/088 for P-8). High School is Special Education General Curriculum and content-specific tests.
• Field(s)/Endorsement(s): SPECIAL EDUCATION GENERAL CURRICULUM (P-12).
