Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), Autism (SV), or Learning Disabilities (SM) Endorsement.
• Ability to manage special education caseload, including conducting IEP meetings.
• Ability to complete IEP forms and monitor compliance with IDEA and MARSE rules.
• Ability to make accommodations based on individual student data.
• Ability to identify and incorporate strategic and intensive interventions as dictated by individual student data.
• Ability to work with special needs students in an inclusive setting.
• Possess well-developed problem-solving skills.
• Possess sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters.
• Possess working knowledge of best practice strategies; able to make research-based decisions.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to assess student achievement.
• Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students.
• Possess knowledge of and abide by Michigan Code of Educational Ethics.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment.
• Competency with emerging computer technologies and familiarity with student information systems.
