Job summary

Dorchester County Public Schools is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for possible openings in the 2025-2026 school year. You will work under the principal and Supervisor of Special Education to deliver direct instruction and support to students with disabilities.

You will collaborate with general education teachers, help develop IEPs, and apply strategies to promote academic growth consistent with Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards.

Qualifications

• Maryland MSDE teaching certificate in Generic Special Education Infant-3, 1-8, or 6-Adult.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of Dorchester County Public Schools curriculum and integration techniques.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum and meet standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and general class teachers.
• Prepare for IEP team meetings and provide case management for assigned students.
• Interpret formal and informal assessments to guide instruction.
• Collect data on student performance to improve outcomes.
• Administer and interpret formal assessments as appropriate.
• Adapt materials to help students access the general curriculum.
