Job summary

Rio Rancho Public Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for Rio Rancho Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year under a 190-day contract. You will coordinate teaching programs with site-based goals and district objectives, and instruct students with motor, language, socio-emotional and cognitive development needs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and an NM teaching license or eligibility, with the ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current New Mexico license or ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Coordinates teaching program with site-based goals and district wide objectives.
Instructs and assists students in motor, language, socio-emotional and cognitive development.
Assures that goals in IEPs are completed.
Assists students with special needs, such as feeding, moving non-ambulatory students, bathroom assistance, diapering, and bathing.
Plans and directs instruction activities of educational assistants.
Instructs students in one-on-one activities and in small groups.
Provides regular communication with educational assistants and teachers on progress.
Maintains documentation to assure accountability.
