Job summary

Beck Centennial Elementary in Utica Community Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant for Personal Care. The role supports students with special needs, assisting with personal care tasks and classroom activities on a part-time schedule.

Starting date is immediate. Hours are 5 per day, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch, and location may change based on student program needs. Applicants should be prepared for potential site changes and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated understanding of student needs and ability to work with special needs students.
• Assist student(s) with personal needs including hygiene, diapering, toileting and clothing.
• Aid students with multiple challenges in the classroom/school environment.
• Follow through with prescribed behavioral management or instructional programs.
• Maintain composure and effective communication in stressful situations.
• Good physical flexibility to run, walk, lift and respond to student needs.
• Willingness to be trained in health-related awareness and interventions.
• Possibility of assignments at multiple sites based on student needs.
• Ability to work with blood testing, insulin, ports, suctioning, diastat, medication dispensing, etc.
• Willingness to be assigned as general helper during downtime.
• Maintain records and contact with parents may be required.
• Characteristics: child-centered, adaptable, calm, respectful, patient, confidentiality.
• Wheelchair assistance may be required.
• Regular attendance required.

• Good attendance required.

Description:
