Job summary

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is seeking a Special Education Teacher (7-12) at the Wayne Education Center in Williamson, NY. The role involves delivering instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities and collaborating with staff to support diverse learners.

Position is 2.00 FTE with a salary range of $52,341–$61,805 based on experience and abilities. Applicants must hold NYS Certification in SWD and preferably dual certification in a SWD content area.

Qualifications

• NYS Teacher Certification in Students with Disabilities Generalist 5-9 or Students with Disabilities 7-12 or Special Education K-12.
• Preference for dual certification in SWD content area (Science).
• Strong knowledge of NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Promotion of equity and culturally responsive practices in inclusive environments.

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teachers are expected to

Job Qualifications

NYS Teacher Certification - Students with Disabilities Generalist 5-9 or Students with Disabilities 7-12 or Special Education K-12. Preference will be given to candidates with dual certification in a SWD content area (Science). Candidates should possess a broad skill set of effective teaching and learning to engage learners of all levels including, but not limited to:

• Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
• Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis with students weighing 50-200 pounds. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. Initial and refresher TCI Trainings are provided by W-FL BOCES.
