Job summary

The Ethical Community Charter School in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Special Education Teacher for grades 3–5 to deliver instruction aligned with each student’s IEP. You will work with regular education staff to coordinate activities and monitor progress, while establishing a positive classroom climate.

Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, providing targeted instruction, and maintaining progress records.

Qualifications

Education level: BA or MA or higher.
Certifications and licenses as required to meet job obligations by the State of New Jersey and / or the U.S.
Priority will be given to candidates who hold certifications or are actively pursuing one.
Experience working in an elementary or middle school setting is preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Provides instruction to students per each student’s IEP.
Coordinates with regular education staff to monitor progress and provide support in class.
Establishes and maintains classroom behavior standards for a productive learning environment.
Maintains records of educational progress and reports findings to stakeholders.
Develops lesson plans and provides individualized and small-group instruction.
Consults with the child study team and reviews IEPs with parents and case managers.
Participates in charter school planning and school-level meetings.
