Job Goal
Develop and implement an all‑encompassing educational program and MTSS plans with innovative methods of teaching and mentoring for students that require Tier II and Tier III interventions.
Professional Skills
- Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
- Utilizes diagnostic techniques to determine learning strengths and weaknesses of students in special education or resource programs.
- Develops educational prescriptions with corresponding educational and behavioral objectives.
- Implements a program of study that meets individual learning needs and interests.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within district resources.
- Prepares for classroom assignment and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourages students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards.
- Uses instructional methods and materials appropriate for stated objectives.
- Evaluates student performance against objectives at least twice per year.
- Develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedures for classroom order.
- Delivers teaching in designated locations and times.
Performance Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following)
- Adhere to district policies and procedures.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth through workshops and coursework.
- Conduct parent–teacher conferences as needed.
- Write narrative end‑of‑year progress reports for students.
- Participate in staff conferences and annual placement reviews.
- Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Serve on curriculum or special education committees.
- Assist in behaviorally challenged instruction and reinforcement.
- Administer one‑to‑one intensive behavior intervention.
- Participate in behavior intervention meetings and professional development.
- Collect data and record student progress notes.
- Monitor, observe, and report student behavior per approved procedures.
- Communicate effectively written and orally with stakeholders.
- Assist students in developing self‑help and self‑advocacy skills.
- Implement specialized plans (IEP, BIP, 504) as needed.
- Direct assigned student groups.
- Assist with de‑escalation and reintegration of student behaviors.
- Help implement classroom management systems such as Daily Progress Report.
- Follow board policies, district procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Proactively resolve issues, concerns, and student behaviors.
- Inform administrators of all student behaviors and issues.
- Exercise respect and collaboration in interactions.
- Complete incident reports promptly and file for records.
- Maintain confidentiality in work‑related situations.
Experience
- Experience working with culturally diverse parents and families in an urban educational setting.
- Experience collaborating with community agencies.
- Experience serving effectively in a collaborative team setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Professional Educators License with LBS 1 endorsement required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Work is typically performed in an interior office environment.
- Very limited or no exposure to physical risk.
