Job summary

Rivermont Schools in Roanoke is seeking a licensed special education teacher to serve students ages 6–21 with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. The Roanoke campus serves about 40 students in structured ABA-based classrooms, supported by a dedicated clinical team.

You will deliver daily instruction across core subjects using individualized ABA-based plans, develop and implement IEPs, apply PBS strategies, and collaborate with BCBAs, Speech-Language Pathologists, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
• Active Virginia license with endorsement in Special Education (Adapted Curriculum or General Curriculum) — or eligibility to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire
• Minimum 1 year of classroom experience supporting students with autism, EBD, or related disabilities (student teaching counts)
• Familiarity with IEP development, ABA principles, and positive behavior support strategies
• Valid Virginia driver's license

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily instruction across core academic subjects for a class of 4–8 students (ages 6–21) using individualized ABA-based lesson plans
• Develop, review, and implement IEPs in compliance with IDEA; lead or co-lead IEP meetings with families and district representatives
• Apply Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies; collect and analyze daily behavioral and academic data
• Collaborate with BCBAs, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Occupational Therapists embedded in the building
• Maintain compliance documentation and communication logs in line with state and accreditation requirements
