Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with individual student teams.
  • Provide Case Manager services and manage IEP goals; liaise with general education teachers; communicate with home; run Team meetings; use CT-SEDS to manage IEPs.
  • Attend PPTs/meetings for assigned students and present progress to goals.
  • Conduct and present educational testing results to review and revise IEP goals.
  • Collect and manage data for student goals and objectives.
  • Ensure related services and accommodations are implemented.
  • Participate in professional development and meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty.
  • Provide co-teaching in general education classes and adapt curriculum; support general education staff with diverse learners.
  • Direct instruction in reading, writing, and/or math to meet district benchmarks; implement behavior support and incentive plans; supervise paraprofessionals.

Job description

Position: Special Education Teacher
Location: Redding Elementary School
Date Available: 2026-2027 School Year
Salary & Benefits: Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities:
  • Works collaboratively with individual student teams
  • Provide Case Manager services, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; liaison with general education teachers; communication with home; running Team meetings; utilizing CT-SEDS to manage IEPs
  • Attends PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and present up to date information on progress toward goals and objectives
  • Conducts and presents educational testing results, using this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives
  • Collects and manages data pertaining to various student goals and objectives
  • Ensures that all related services and class accommodations are being implemented in the appropriate settings
  • Participates in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty
  • Provides co-teaching partnerships in general education classes; adapts and modifies curriculum materials and instructional approaches; serves as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner population
  • Provides direct instruction in reading, writing, and/or mathematics so students are able to meet or close the gap in meeting district-wide benchmarks
  • Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned students
  • Provide supervision and ongoing training for paraprofessional staff working with students
Qualifications:
  • CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12.
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Prior experience working with adolescents is preferred
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be flexible, creative, and demonstrates strong organizational skills
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed
