We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our Charter School for the 2026–2027 school year. In this role, you will support students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring they receive high-quality instruction and services that help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You will collaborate with families, teachers, and administrators to design and implement effective strategies that meet each student’s unique needs.

Your Role

As a Special Education Teacher, you will identify student needs, design and implement individualized plans, and provide instruction that helps students reach their fullest potential. You’ll also work as a key partner with families, school staff, and community stakeholders to ensure a well-rounded support system for every learner.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify Student Needs – Conduct assessments to determine eligibility for services
  • Develop & Implement IEPs – Create individualized education plans based on student needs
  • Deliver Instruction – Provide direct services aligned with IEP goals
  • Monitor Progress – Track and assess student achievement toward IEP goals
  • Facilitate Collaboration – Lead and participate in IEP meetings with families and stakeholders
  • Maintain Records – Complete IEPs, lesson plans, progress notes, and reports on time
  • Ensure Compliance – Follow all state, district, and organizational requirements and policies
  • Engage in Professional Growth – Attend meetings, training, and professional development
  • Build Positive Relationships – Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and co-workers
  • Support the Team – Take on additional duties as assigned and contribute to a positive school culture
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Special Education strongly preferred)
  • Valid WI DPI License in applicable area, or ability to obtain emergency license within two weeks of hire
  • One (1) year of experience working with students strongly preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
  • Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, transportation, and state minimum auto insurance (must meet La Causa, Inc. driving standards)
  • Must pass all criminal background checks, TB, drug testing, and physical
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as program needs require
Day-to-Day Setting

Work is primarily performed in classroom and school settings with occasional local or statewide travel. Flexible hours may be required.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and walking. Infrequent lifting may occur. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
