Job summary

The Special Education Teaching Assistant at WMS in Wellesley, MA provides support for students with IEPs across general and special education settings under the direction of a certified teacher. You will assist with instructional, social-emotional and behavioral supports to help students progress toward IEP goals.

Responsibilities include data collection across settings, supporting learning experiences, and collaborating with staff to reinforce strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Criminal Record Check (CORI), SORI and fingerprints required.
• Passion for working with children/students.
• Basic knowledge of child growth and development.
• Knowledge of basic behavioral strategies.
• Knowledge of basic learning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with student supports to implement IEP goals and benchmarks.
• Provide student support in all environments under supervision of licensed staff.
• Support academic, social-emotional and behavioral needs of assigned students.
• Collect data on progress and challenges to inform IEP goals.
• Provide coverage for special education staff and general education teachers as needed.
• Participate in in-service trainings and meetings.
