Job summary

Mesquite ISD invites applications for a Special Education Assistant – Inclusion to support the Inclusion Teacher and assist with instructional activities for students with disabilities. You’ll help prepare materials, operate classroom equipment, and assist one-on-one or small groups.

Candidates need a High School Diploma or GED, the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and strong communication. This is a full-time, non-exempt position starting as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in preparation of teaching materials and bulletin boards.
• Operate standard office machines and AV equipment.
• Assist with instructional program under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Work with an individual student or small group to reinforce academic, behavioral, or development skills.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and data collection under supervision of a teacher.
• Assist assessment team by administering achievement and development tests.
• Help manage behavior and keep teacher informed of student needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
