Job summary

LEARN Academy in Tempe, AZ seeks Substitute Teachers to support students with emotional and behavioral needs. You'll join a team assisted by 1–3 behavior technicians, delivering instruction, documenting progress and contributing to a structured, therapeutic classroom environment.

You will implement crisis de-escalation strategies, follow the school schedule and adapt to variable days/hours, collaborating with peers and supervisors to ensure continuity of learning and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Active AZ State Department of Education substitute certificate.
• Experience with emotional/behaviorally challenged students preferred.
• PCMA certification is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follow school schedule.
• Work variable days/hours.
• Collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors.
• Maintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regards to certain student behaviors or mannerisms.
• Must have the ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees).
