Job summary

Nassau BOCES in New York seeks Substitute Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers with pedagogical and classroom management tasks.

The role involves working with students individually or in small groups, collecting progress data, and assisting in developing learning experiences. NYSED TA Level I-III or Special Education certification is required; experience with special education students is preferred. On-site position with contract-based salary.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYSED TA Level I-III or NYS Special Education Teacher Certification.
• Experience working with students with a wide range of needs.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Experience in providing small group instruction in academic areas is preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Providing the classroom teacher with information about students that will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
• Collection of student data and progress monitoring of IEP goals where appropriate.
• Assisting students in the use of available instructional resources and assisting in the development of instructional materials.
• Assisting the classroom teacher with related instructional work as required.
• In the absence of the classroom teacher, assume all instructional duties.
