Job summary

Cleburne ISD is seeking a SAS Special Education Paraprofessional to assist in a Social Academic Structured classroom. You will support teachers in implementing instructional programs, help with self-help, behavior management, and social skills for students with disabilities in a restricted environment.

The role involves assisting with feeding, personal care, transfers to wheelchairs, supervising students in and out of the classroom, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children with disabilities (preferably social, communication, and structured teaching experience).
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional staff in preparing materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and assist with inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Assist teachers with administrative records and required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers to/from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
• Assist with feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Help manage and de-escalate challenging student behavior as needed.
• Monitor students during lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Maintain confidentiality and attend meetings as required.
