Job summary

Hamden Public Schools in West Woods School seeks a Resource Teacher to provide individualized help, counseling, and learning experiences for students with educational handicaps, aligned with IEP goals and parental involvement.

You will assess student needs, coordinate with teachers, prepare progress notes, and participate in case conferences to support academic and social development in a collaborative school setting.

Qualifications

• Certification in the subject and/or grade level to be taught as determined by state certification authorities.
• Such other alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Determines learning problems and initiates remediation.
• Provides tutoring for other classes.
• Evaluates students’ needs and progress toward remediation.
• Prepares progress reports and year-end evaluations.
• Counsels students and helps plan academic goals.
• Works with parents and teachers to support student success.
• Participates in case conferences about educationally handicapped students.
