Job summary

Fort Leavenworth USD 207 seeks a Special Education Para Educator- Resource for the 2026/2027 school year to support students with disabilities, assist teachers, and help maintain a positive learning environment that fosters personal, social, and academic growth.

You will implement activities, adapt materials, collect progress data toward IEP goals, maintain confidential records, and collaborate with the principal, teachers, and district staff to ensure safe, inclusive classrooms.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Required: Basic computer skills
• Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Required: Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer)

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and support a positive learning environment, and respond to individual educational, social, and behavioral needs of students with disabilities
• Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community
• React to change and frequent interruptions productively and positively, including but not limited to new duties, assignments, and student caseloads
• Operate all classroom equipment appropriately
• Observe and follow all school district policies (including health and safety policies)
• Work to implement the District's vision, mission, and goals
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
• Prepare and present classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher
• Work with individual and small groups of students to reinforce curriculum material and complete assignments provided by the teacher
• Work with students who may exhibit behavioral difficulties such as yelling and refusal
• Guide students in independent study, enrichment, or remedial work provided by teachers
• Support students’ individual needs throughout the school setting (e.g., lunch, recess, sports)
• Escort students to and from the general education setting to a special education classroom
• Support the various needs of students with disabilities while in the general and special education classrooms
• Collect data on student progress toward IEP goals
• Keep student and personnel records confidential
• Respond to information requested in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
• Adhere strictly to professional ethics
• Perform clerical duties when requested to include data entry into a computer
• Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the principal or teacher
