Job summary

Plymouth-Canton Community School District is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals for Hoben Elementary School. The role supports students with IEPs in collaboration with general and special education staff, under the guidance of the special education teacher, assisting with accommodations, modifications, and health-related plans.

Responsibilities include supervising students in various settings, maintaining logs and data, and assisting with health care, behavior, and instructional

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Ability to engage in problem identification and solving.
  • Ability to maintain good rapport with staff/parents/students.
  • Previous experience as a one-on-one paraprofessional preferred.
  • Experience working with children with health impairments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works in collaboration with general and special education staff to support students with IEPs in the least restrictive environment.
  • Functions under the guidance of special education teacher, and supports students' accommodations and modifications per their IEPs.
  • Supports students with specific plans developed by the special education professional team.
  • Assists the special education classroom teacher and support personnel in the implementation of health care, behavior, and instructional programming.
  • Manages both behavioral and instructional logs. Maintains and implements data collection systems.
  • Supports established goals and objectives for students.
  • When applicable, operates equipment used in the special education program for the production of printed or other audio-visual instructional materials.
  • Supervise students in the lunchroom, halls, and outside as assigned by supervisor.
  • Bending, lifting, and overhead work required.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Provides support in the areas of behavior, medical, and daily living and functional skills (i.e. toileting).
  • Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students.

37.5 hrs weekly

Monday - Friday

8:30am - 4:30pm

JOB GOAL

Paraprofessional will provide support physical needs, toileting, lunch support and physical management for students with IEP's.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material,and the ability to adjust focus.
