Job summary

Supplemental Health Care, Inc. is hiring paraprofessionals to support students with special needs in partnering school districts in New York. You will assist teachers, support class activities, and help implement behavior plans and IEP goals to promote academic, social, and emotional success.

Pay is $22.25-$23.95 per hour. SHC offers medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401(k), and professional development options to support your career in education.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and either a Passing Score on the ETS ParaPro Exam OR an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or at least two years of study (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) at an accredited college.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children
• Prior experience working with children with special needs, physical/mental disabilities, or behavior management
• Proficient in the use of standard computer applications
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with existing staff
• Supporting students one-on-one or in small groups with classwork, communication, and daily routines
• Helping implement behavior plans and IEP goals with care and consistency
• Assisting students with special needs who may require help with mobility, personal care, or emotional regulation
• Creating a positive learning environment where all students can thrive
• Teaming up with teachers, therapists, and staff to make school a great place to be
• Celebrating small victories every single day
• Willingness to assist with physical or behavioral needs as required
