Job summary

Comal Independent School District is seeking a paraeducator to assist in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Under supervision of teachers, you will help with instructional materials, classroom displays, and supervising students throughout the day.

The role involves assisting students with disabilities, following written and verbal instructions, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate required.
• Two years of college (48 semester hours) or an associate’s degree or demonstrated ability in assisting reading, writing and math readiness.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and assist with required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities as needed (transfers, positioning).
• Help manage student behavior and intervene in crises as needed.
• Support individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and instructional exercises.
• Supervise students during the day (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development.
