ROCKFORD BOARD OF EDUCATION is seeking a Paraprofessional – Special Education to support classroom instruction and student activities in a self-contained setting. The role involves assisting with educational programs, supervising students, and helping implement behavior plans under supervision of the classroom teacher and specialists.

Ideal candidates have a minimum high school diploma and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom management and instruction in a self-contained special education setting.
• Support students with daily activities, behavioral plans, and movement between activities.
• Assist in set up, organization and maintenance of classroom materials and spaces.
• Support transportation and supervision tasks as needed.
• Follow teacher plans and document student progress and observations.
