Job summary

Detroit Merit Charter Academy in Detroit, MI is seeking a Title I paraprofessional to support students with disabilities and behavior plans under the direction of the special education team. You will provide 1:1 or small group assistance and help implement IEP/504 accommodations.

Qualifications

• Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications is preferred.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance per IEP/504 plans, 1:1 or small groups.
• Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
• Implement curriculum and instruction tailored to meet each student’s needs from their disability (resource room, inclusion, pullout).
• Attend professional development, trainings and IEP meetings with the team and parents.
