Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional (PreK) to assist the lead teacher in a Pre-K classroom. You will support instruction, prepare materials, and help manage daily routines for young learners in an elementary setting.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and passing the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment or a qualifying certificate; an Associate's degree or higher is acceptable. This is a classroom-based position supporting early childhood education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment or have Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education in lieu of passing GACE
• Associate's Degree or higher from GaPSC-approved institution acceptable

Responsibilities

• Assists the Pre-K teacher and students to support learning objectives
• Follows Georgia Pre-Kindergarten program guidelines and classroom routines
• Prepares educational materials for students and supports lesson delivery
• Works one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives
• Assists with daily routines: distributing/collecting supplies, attendance, and instructional quality
• Participates in lunch, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties as required
• Maintains learning centers and learning materials for instruction
• Performs other duties as assigned by administrators

Summary

Provides assistance with classroom organization, management, and presentation/development of classroom instruction; Works under general supervision of the instructional staff

• Works closely with the Pre-Kindergarten teacher and students
• Follows the operating guidelines required by the Georgia Pre-Kindergarten program
• Assists the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for students
• Works individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectives
• Assists with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, and all other instructional Quality guidelines as assigned
• Participates in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties
• Assists with preparing and maintaining learning centers for instruction
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Must pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment or must have Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education in lieu of passing GACE Assessment an Associate's Degree or higher at a GaPSC accepted accredited institution is acceptable

Certification/Licensure

Must meet Bright From the Start requirements as indicated under "Education" above

• Ability to understand and follow directions

• Classroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children preferred

Physical Demands

• Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
