Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a 2026-2027 Special Education Paraprofessional position at Blacksburg High School. Qualifications

• Minimum 48 college credits or completed Parapro Assessment
• Parapro assessment can be completed with MCPS by appointment

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials and activities
• Provides accommodations/modifications as written in IEP
• Reinforces material and assists with data collection
• Supports individualized and small-group instruction to adapt curriculum
• Maintains behavior standards as directed by the teacher
• Helps create a conducive learning environment
• Supports students with disabilities instructionally, behaviorally, and physically as needed
• Cares for cleanliness of learning spaces and assists with classroom tasks
• Assists with technology or augmentative communication devices
• Provides supervision and feedback on student work per teacher instructions
• Assists with content area skills and may read aloud to students
• Maintains confidentiality of student records and classroom order
• Monitors students to stay on task per behavior plans
