Job summary

Alpha Public Schools in East San José is seeking a dedicated Special Education paraprofessional to support students with high needs, implement IEP goals, and assist teachers in an inclusive learning environment.

The successful candidate will provide targeted instruction for individuals and small groups, support behavior management, and help track progress with classroom data. AA degree or two years of college and Praxis Paraprofessional test acceptance are required.

Qualifications

  • Requires AA degree or completion of two years of college (72 quarter hours or 48 sem. hours) or passing Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with students and classroom management.
  • High behavioral and academic expectations for all students.
  • Commitment to work with students in traditionally underserved communities (80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons to individuals and small groups targeting remedial skills and IEP goals.
  • Provide in-the-moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary.
  • Analyze data and assist with quarterly progress reports for Education specialists.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, leadership, and families regarding student needs and progress.
