Job summary

Alvord ISD is seeking a dedicated instructional aide to support a special education classroom. You will assist in implementing programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, helping with assessments, maintaining a tidy classroom, assisting with students' physical needs and personal care, and reporting to the teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.
• HQ status required (HQ).
• Experience with children preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or assignments.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Prepare required records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises for individuals or small groups.
• Assist students with physical disabilities (transfers, lifting, positioning).
• Assist with personal care (feeding, bathroom needs, hygiene).
• Manage student behavior and intervene as needed.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground.
• Keep teacher informed of students' special needs.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
