Job summary

Connally Independent School District in Waco, Texas is seeking a Functional Academic Aide to support instructional activities for students with disabilities. The role involves assisting teachers with materials, maintaining a safe classroom, and supervising students throughout the day.

The aide will work under the supervision of a certified teacher and adhere to ESSA requirements for instructional support in Title I programs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Associate degree or two years of college study preferred.
Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.

Responsibilities

Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Assist students with disabilities; help with transfers, lifting, and personal care.
Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Help manage behavior and intervene in crises as needed.
Recognize differences in medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and adapt methods accordingly.
Work with individuals or small groups to develop motor skills.
Supervise students during the school day (lunch, bus, playground).
