Kettering City Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional for Kettering Middle School in Ohio. The role supports a student identified with special needs, assisting the classroom teacher and helping with instructional and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, assisting with mobility and safety, and monitoring students in various settings to maintain a positive learning environment. Starting date is immediate; 7 hours per day.

• Must possess a 2-year associate degree or 48 semester/72 quarter hours or pass PARAPRO Test.
• Valid Ohio educational aide permit.
• Must pass criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screening.

POSITION: SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

LOCATION: KETTERING MIDDLE SCHOOL

Effective immediately

GENERAL INFORMATION: This position will be 7 hours per day. The primary responsibility will be to provide support and assistance to high school students identified with special needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES, Partial List:

• To assist the special education teacher in carrying out the routine policies and procedures of the classroom and building to which the aide is assigned.
• To adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom instructional and behavioral skills.
• To assist teachers with required physical activity including walking, stooping, bending, assisting students in/out of wheelchairs including lifting/supporting students with physical needs.
• To assist teachers with monitoring students within a variety of school environment (ex. on/off bus, playground, restroom including toileting, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS, Partial List:

Applicants must be Highly Qualified – Possess a 2-year Associates Degree or 2 years of college credits (48 semester or 72 quarter hrs.) or passage of state paraprofessional standards exam (PARAPRO Test).

• Valid Ohio educational aide permit.
• Must pass criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must have competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including adapting to changing work priorities, communicating effectively with students, parents, and teachers, maintaining confidentiality, working as part of a team, and must possess problem-solving skills.

SALARY: According to approved salary schedule. THIS IS A SPREAD PAY POSITION
