Job summary

Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Thornton, CO is seeking a Grade G8 Paraprofessional to provide specialized instructional support in a Title I designated school, assisting with academic tasks, behavior monitoring, and daily routines.

You will supervise students, support therapy programs, help with testing, and collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement IEPs, CPI safety procedures, and health-related duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• AA or (2) year college degree, OR
• Passing of state CDE approved paraprofessional examination, OR
• Complete Personal Commitment Plan to meet requirements within a defined timeline
• Willing to work with students receiving special education services (training opportunities provided).
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within 3 months after entering position.
• Universal Precautions training required within 3 months after entering position.
• CPI/Safety Care training certification required within 3 months after entering position.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in Specialized Programs by tutoring, adapting work and monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior.
• Provide support in general education setting in order for students to participate in class activities.
• Assist instructor with related paperwork and with therapy programs; work with therapists on IEP goals.
• Assist with administering testing or assessments and with homework.
