Job description

Special Education Para - Wright
Responsibilities
  • Under direction of professional staff work with students individually or in group settings.
  • Assist with supervision of students (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.).
  • Implement behavior management strategies.
  • May include riding the bus with students.
  • May include working one to one with student to complete assigned tasks.
  • Student supervision required.
  • Ensuring student safety is required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist students with the necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
  • Assist students at mealtime.
  • Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
  • Help get students to and from bus or car.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Assignments may vary based on building and district needs.
Classification

Teacher Associates – Seven hours (7) hours per day – $17.26/hr.

Employment

Position will start with the 2026-2027 school year. Start date to be determined.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, talk and hear, squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward 0 to 24 inches (occasionally up to 36 inches). The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items. The employee often bends or twists at the neck and trunk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as curriculum materials, desks, chairs, and boxes. The employee may also push/pull items such as tables and carts. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

Working Environment

The work environment is usually quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may extend beyond the typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom, including desks, on or near the floor, standing, moving while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will also work outdoors when supervising students outside the classroom.
