Linn-Mar Community School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Instructional Strategist I/II/III) for Westfield Elementary in Robins, Iowa. Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. degree, M.A. preferred.
• Holds and maintains a valid Iowa Teaching License with appropriate special education endorsement required.
• Cross-cultural experience preferred.
• Special education teaching experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
• Identify students' needs and develop strategies for IEPs and referrals.
• Communicate with parents regularly outside the classroom via newsletters, e-mail, notes, calls, and conferences.
• Discuss student problems, behavior incidents, and progress with parents honestly and confidentially.
• Promote parent participation in education activities.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and schedule lessons following curricula.
• Work with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and admins to resolve student issues.
• Identify students showing signs of emotional or health-related problems and discuss with supervisors/parents.
• Engage in collaborative team planning.

Education

B.A. or B.S. degree, M.A. preferred
