Job summary

Lexington County School District One is seeking an Instructional Assistant, Special Education to support students with disabilities under IDEA. Works under supervision to assist with academic instruction, therapy-related activities and daily living skills in a classroom setting.

The position requires meeting paraprofessional eligibility (60 college hours, an associate degree or higher, or a ParaPro/ParaPathways score) and includes standard school-year hours (8 per day, 185 days).

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 60 college credit hours or an associate's degree or higher; or a passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical, emotional and academic support to students with disabilities under IDEA.
• Assists teachers with classroom activities and instruction.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Prepares and disseminates instructional materials.
• Ensures a safe and orderly classroom environment.

Education

60 college credit hours

Associate's degree or higher

Passing score on ParaPro or ParaPathways

High school graduate or equivalent

Two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution
