Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs is hiring instructional assistants to support classroom operations and students with disabilities. Under supervision, you will implement IEP related activities and help maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 48 college credits (with 15 in language arts/math/reading) or a ParaPro assessment. You may assist with home visits, classroom setup, and behavior monitoring as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • Passing score on the ParaPro exam (457).
  • Minimum of 48 semester hours of college credit with 15 credits in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or professional education (6 hours).
  • High school diploma or GED; or related experience and/or training. Completion of 48 credits including the specified distribution or ParaPro/Assessment.
  • Capable of lifting children as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in classroom management routines.
  • Accompanies the teacher on home visits, as necessary.
  • Direct IEP related activities of students under supervision.
  • Prepare classroom for activities under teacher guidance.
  • Assist in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.
  • Maintain equipment/materials used by students.
  • Assist with playground, cafeteria, in-class supervision and other school activities.
  • Participate in in-service activities.
