Job summary

The TemPositions Group client is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a premier private program for high school students with disabilities in Derby, CT.

You will implement individualized education plans, support functional and social-emotional development, and collaborate with families and service providers. This full-time role follows a traditional school calendar, with Monday–Friday hours and 30-40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Valid Connecticut teaching certification with Comprehensive Special Education, Grades K-12 (Endorsement #165).
• Experience with students with disabilities, ideally in a private school setting.
• Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction.

Responsibilities

• Instructional delivery: Develop and implement individualized lesson plans addressing academic, functional, social-emotional, and independent living skills.
• Provide instructional direction to 1:1 paraprofessional staff.
• Collaborate with families, administrators, and related-service providers to ensure goal implementation.
• Participate in PPT/IEP meetings and maintain documentation, progress monitoring, and student records.
• Implement positive behavioral strategies and trauma-informed educational practices.

Job description

Our client, a premier private special education program, is currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join their educational team. The teacher plays a central role in providing individualized, engaging, and supportive educational experiences for high school students with disabilities.

This position focuses on supporting students' academic achievement, functional skill development, independence, and social-emotional growth based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Key Responsibilities

• Instructional Delivery: Develop and implement individualized lesson plans addressing academic, functional, social-emotional, and independent living skills.
• Staff Guidance: Provide instructional direction and guidance to assigned 1:1 paraprofessional staff.
• Collaboration: Partner with families, administrators, and related-service providers to ensure consistent goal implementation.
