Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE Special Education - DCD-SP Teacher in Rochester, MN. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction for students with moderate to severe needs and collaborate with teachers, families, and specialists.

Licensure through Minnesota PELSB for K-12 Moderate to Severe is preferred/required. Positions include prorated salary per the 2025-2027 REA contract; detailed salary schedule available via contract.

Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota PELSB license in appropriate area preferred and/or required for K-12 Moderate to Severe.
  • Urban, multicultural education experience desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and IEP processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide special education services to students in K-12 with moderate to severe needs.
  • Collaborate with general education staff, families, and specialists to support student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current Minnesota PELSB license in appropriate area preferred and/or required: Grade K-12 Moderate to Severe Mentally Handicapped

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education desirable.

Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.

Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
